Description Jun 03, 2009 - Benavente, Portugal - Pilots Miguel Gomes (L), Jorge Mendinhas (C) and Tó João, perform the final verifications on a WT9 Dynamic ultralight aircraft before their departure to the Dynamic expedition to Austria. Four portuguese ultralight aircrafts, will participate on the WT9 Dynamic Fly-in international event, that will gather over 200 aircrafts of this model, in Austria on the first days of June 2009. The 8 member crew squad (two by aircraft) will fly for about 4 days, from Benavente airfield - Portugal, to Zell Amm See airfield in Austria returning to Benavente. The squad will fly, always in formation and on sight, a total of 4700km (2500 nautical miles), VFR (Visual Flight Rules), at an average altitude of about 1500ft (450m) and on some points of the course reaching the 7.000 ft (2,133m). The flight will be done over Portugal, Spain, France, Germany and Austria, crossing the Pyrenees and the Alps. These 3rd generation ultralight aircrafts, with an autonomy of 1.000 km (540 nautical miles), 100hp engines, capable of reaching the speed of 300km/h (186 miles/h), will, however, deal with several challenges, including the one that may force the squad to land - bad weather, like heavy rains, thunderstorms or string gusty winds. Pilots and co-pilots, all portuguese, are people with that come from different areas of activity - from professional commercial jet pilots to flight instructors and business men, all sharing the same passion for flying and especially these 3rd generation ultra-light aircrafts.
